Gingerbread

What would Christmas be without gingerbread? Exactly, we do not know either. Therefore, comes Christmas’s most delicious recipe, which cannot be missed during this festive season. With this recipe, you feel the typical Christmas feeling and can thus completely tune in and look forward to the holidays.

Ingredients for the spice mixture:

  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp turmeric

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 170 g whole spelt flour
  • 1-3 tablespoons of the spice mixture
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 30 ml milk (2 tablespoons) or vegetable milk
  • 30 g butter
  • 70 g maple syrup 

Preheat the oven to 150 °C. Mix the dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls each. Then add the wet ingredients to the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix until you get a dough mixture.

Wrap the dough in baking paper and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour.

After the dough has chilled, roll it out between two pieces of baking paper. Cut with cookie cutters and then place on a baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool. Garnish the finished cookies with decorations and then serve. 

Our recommendation: Serve with a glass of milk of choice and dip the cookie into the milk.
