Energy Balls

Looking for a high power snack for on-the-go or to fuel your next adventure? Try out these all-natural energy balls to help satisfy sweet tooth cravings and balance blood sugar levels. Made from foods rich in natural sugars (dates and bananas) and balanced with protein and healthy fats (almonds and chia seeds), these can be a lifesaver on long rides or when out hiking.

Ingredients (makes 10 balls)

  • 100 g dates
  • 1 banana
  • 100 g almonds
  • 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  • 2 tsp. cacao powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. sea/ Himalayan salt
  • Shredded coconut

Soak the dates in hot water approx. 10min before blending. Once soft, blend the dates. Mash up a banana using a fork. Grind up the almonds until almost powdered (I used a coffee grinder). Place all the ingredients, except the shredded coconut into a bowl and mix together. Roll the mixture into tightly-packed balls and cover the outside using shredded coconut, a powder or seeds of choice (e.g. matcha green tea powder, chia seeds, cacao powder etc.). Store in the fridge at home or wrap in cling wrap to take with you.
